What Is High Blood Pressure In Adolescents?

High blood pressure, which is also known professionally as hypertension, is a condition where the pressure of the blood coursing through your arteries is considerably higher than normal. Most medical professionals will state that the beginning point for individuals over eighteen years of age is 120/80. However, there are causes that could make those numbers not normal. Age is one of them.

The first figure is the systolic arterial blood pressure, which means that it is the pressure read while the heart contracts, beats or pumps out blood. The second number is whilst the heart sucks in blood, ready to pump it out again.

These statistics are given in millimetres of mercury and are written as mmHg. Higher readings of either of these figures can indicate a difficulty. One thing to make patent here is that it is impossible to guess or estimate the pressure of your blood without using either a sphygmomanometer ( the one your physician uses in the surgery), which is the gold standard for blood pressure monitoring devices or a home blood monitoring machine.

Blood pressure can be affected by numerous items such as: time of the day, age, weight, height, mood, fitness, diet, degree of activity and stress, which may or may not be part of ‘white coat syndrome’ amongst others. ‘White coat syndrome’ is the worry experienced by individuals when they have to get examined by a medical doctor. This applies to children more than to any other age group.

Blood pressure also varies during the day, so in order to acquire an precise reading, it is necessary to take several all at the same time of day. It is also prudent to wait 45 minutes after drinking caffeine or ten minutes after arriving before taking a reading.

So, what is normal? The real answer, although it is annoying, is that only a medical doctor can tell you, however for an adult, they say that it is 120/80, for an adolescent it is 110/70 and for an infant it is 80/45.

However, while measuring and evaluating the blood pressure of adolescents, you have to remember that age, sex and height count. Therefore, an adolescent is said to have high blood pressure if the blood pressure is more than that of ninety percent of people of his/her age, gender and height.

The causes of hypertension are classified as primary or secondary. Primary means that it is all your body’s fault and secondary means that the reason is something else, say, medication. Hypertension can also be the result of race or other hereditary reasons. Males of African ancestry are especially at risk.

One of the items you can buy to keep you knowledgeable about your family’s blood pressure concerns is a home blood pressure monitor. These devices are fairly cheap yet are very accurate, so buy an automatic digital monitor and take it to your GP to be sure that it is accurate and get the readings that are pertinent to all the members of your family.

There is an importance of knowing how to give first aid or CPR. Taking a class on first aid can be done at a local community center or hospital. Whilst taking such a class, these are the things an individual will most probably learn. As a person learns what to do in their first aid class, they will get taught the A-B-C?s of first aid.

Now, this does not mean A-B-C as in bullet points, no, this is a mnemonic motto. So, while administering first aid to anybody, they ought to be receiving help from a trained individual for clearing their Airway, Breathing properly or Circulation in their heart.

An airway which is blocked has to be attended to immediately. Being able to clear anyone?s airway is important for sustaining their life. If the airway is not open, it will most likely affect that person?s mind and body functions. In turn, this will cause a rapid deterioration of that person?s life.

As you can see, having an open airway permits a person to respond to you and sustain their life. The open airway also keeps oxygen going to the brain. Without oxygen to our brain, there may be permanent damage too. Just as important as opening a person?s airway is, so too is getting them to breathe again.

These two facets, airway and breathing, might seem the same to you, but they have two separate functions for a first aid responder to accomplish. When it comes to breathing, that person will require some help. Once the airway is open, they might not be breathing in the right manner.

Having a person breathe, on their own, is just as crucial as having an open airway. Both of these functions require the passage of oxygen to the brain and this is why the objective of a first aid responder is to help that person breathing again without aid.

Just as important as opening the airway and breathing is, so too is allowing circulation to the heart. The human heart is an amazing muscle but while a person?s heart is in trouble, they will require urgent care in order to assure they remain alive.

If the human heart is not receiving oxygen and beating as intended, there might be a loss of life. Each action given to an injured person, from a first aid responder, is important. Every step received, in the order given, is also vital.

All three A-B-C measures above, having been studied in a CPR class, and then used as taught by a first aid responder is necessary to the survival of the injured person. In fact, seeing if a person has a pulse and is breathing is the first thing to be done while helping a person in difficulty.

As recently as 2010, the American Heart Association asked that the A-B-C?s be converted to C-A-B. Now, if performing first aid on an adult, it is recommended to do chest compressions first, and then see if the airway is open and if a person can breathe on their own. The original A-B-C?s can still be utilized on infants and children.

Recipe for Homemade Cream Acne Treatment

The market is saturated with a multitude of acne treatments. Most people do not put into consideration what goes into these different medications. For this reason, people end up purchasing medication that proves to either be too mild for their acne or too harsh on their skin. In addition to this, one may end up spending a lot of money in product before they figure out which one will work best to combat their acne. If this is the case, then one may consider making a homemade cream to battle their acne woes. Not only is this an affordable option, but homemade cream tends to be made from natural ingredients. This ensures that it in not abrasive to one’s skin and can also be altered to suit one’s particular skin type.

The first thing one will need to do is get a clean mixing bowl. The mixing bowl should be of average size. In the mixing bowl, one should pour in half a cup of baking soda. This should be followed by half a cup of water that is poured in slowly. This is to ensure that one mixes the baking soda and water thoroughly without any lumps.

Ensure that the mixture does not get too runny. In case this happens, one can add a few more teaspoons of baking soda until the mixture gets to an even consistency. If the mixture is too thick, one should add a little more water until the consistency is just right.

Once the mixture is ready, one should set it aside for a little while. The next step would be to grate half a cucumber. Once this is done, one should add the cucumber to the baking soda mixture. Ensure that the grated cucumber is mixed well in the baking soda mixture. Once this is done, one should get a separate bowl.

In this bowl, one should put two slices of apple. One should then proceed to mash the slices of apple until they become a pasty consistency. The most appropriate tool to do this would be a pestle. When the apple slices have been appropriately mashed, one should incorporate them into the baking soda and cucumber mixture. Ensure that the ingredients have been mixed in thoroughly.

To finish off the mixture, one should add in a tablespoon of honey. This should be stirred into the cream. Once this is done, one can now set the cream in the fridge so that it can sit for an hour undisturbed. The cream can be used once daily by applying it on one’s face, letting it sit for several minutes then rinsing it off.

Office Stress

Office stress is a very frequent occurrence. Office stress comes about because of the pressures of the work, which is frequently not so easy to define, particularly in a small firm. In a large office, jobs are quite clearly defined and everybody knows what they are responsible for.

In a small office though, the few members of staff often have to cover a dozen or so different jobs and so office stress can build up. Office stress can build up rapidly if the boss is unsympathetic or a member of a small office team goes off pregnant or sick whether a temporary stand-in is found or not.

Office stress is a very real phenomenon especially in a small business. For example, it is not uncommon for a company with $1 annual turnover to be managed by a staff of two – the office manager and a secretary. This means that the office manager has to be able to do every job and it is hoped that the secretary will be able to do most of them as well. This creates office stress.

The secretary-cum-assistant will have to understand filing, typing, word-processing, data entry for book-keeping software, how to read job sheets, time sheets and invoices. The secretary will also have to welcome visitors, but keep sales people at bay, while staying polite.

The secretary will also need to have decent phone manners and be able to answer enough questions to be able to shield the manager from time wasters and deal with relevant questions if the manager is not in. These jobs are difficult enough on their own, but office stress builds up if you find yourself trying to do three jobs at once and that is not uncommon.

You could be entering time sheet data whilst the manager has gone to visit site, when the phone rings with an inquiry and a potential client comes in looking for a quote. This is enough to make office stress soar.

The manager will also have to be able to carry out these tasks, but the office supervisor will also be responsible for management accounts, pay, job costing, pricing, composing letters and keeping up with the law as the Company Secretary, which means that he/she will need to know enough about employment law to give advice to the directors.

This leads to tremendous office stress. Besides all this, the office manager is usually responsible for paying and collecting taxes and keeping up with regulations and employment law. In these days of litigation and government claw backs, mistakes in any legal field are punished with costly fines or compensation claims. This degree of responsibility also just raises the level of office stress.

The problem is that office stress, like most kinds of stress, leads to tension and irritability and irritability can lead to a short fuse and flashes of temper, which merely goes to worsen the situation and raise the degree of office stress another peg.

The degrees of office stress soar if an vital piece of office equipment breaks down, because it is always just when you need it. Because it can take hours or even days to have it repaired, you are expected to be able to carry out small repairs yourself. And then if the employer is an unsympathetic or just unlikeable person then the degree of office stress can become even worse.

Everybody has to have heard that garlic is very healthy for you by now. In spite of that, there are still sceptics, but that is usually because it is difficult to identify a difference. Garlic is more preventative than curative.

You have to build up an amount of ‘garlic’ in your body before it can do you a great deal of help. Garlic will be much less effective if you try eating it after the event, because it takes so long to make up the quantities you need, depending on how much you eat, obviously.

Once you understand that, it becomes obvious that you ought to be eating garlic every day, not only when you are already sick. Some cultures are pleased to smell of garlic all day long, but others are not. For these people, there are garlic supplements and even de-odourized garlic supplements.

Garlic has been utilized as an antiseptic for centuries, if not longer, but contemporary studies have proven that it is also useful in the battle against cholesterol – the bugbear of the Twenty-First Century, as populations all over the world, but especially in the West inflate into obesity.

If you are the type of person who would rather eat the real thing than a supplement, but are not keen on being known for your garlic breath, there are things that you can do to minimize the smell. Thais cook garlic very quickly and it goes into every meal, but you would not know it.

Cooking it quickly seems to kill the smell on your breath. Chewing parsley or gargling with and then drinking lemon juice are ways of minimizing the smell of garlic.

However, you could eat fresh garlic on the weekend but take supplements during the week, while you have to go to work. If you are looking for garlic supplements, you will come across dozens of different types. However, all you actually need to know is whether the pill is odourless or not and how much alicin is in it. Alicin is the active ingredient that you are interested in.

Cold-pressed garlic is said to be odourless, so you might look out for that on the label. Alicin is also sometimes coupled with other general system boosters or tonics like echinacea. You will have to carry out some research before you purchase, because ‘specialists’ disagree on everything except that garlic is good for you.

Eating garlic on a daily basis ought to make a difference to your cholesterol levels over time – a month or two -, but will also offer longterm help. If you are already being tracked for cholesterol by your doctor, tell him or her what you are doing and then you have a point of reference to judge how effective garlic is in lowering cholesterol in your case

Garlic will almost certainly never be sufficient on its own to protect you from high degrees of cholesterol, but that would be expecting too much anyway. Instead, you should see garlic as another foot soldier in the battle.

However, it is so important that it is worth repeating. This is because you want to continue being as healthy as you can and keep your baby safe and protected also.

Whenever you make a purchase online for a course like this, there will always a sort of funny feeling because you will not be able to actually pick it the way that you can pick up a physical assignment. In addition, the company that sells this eBook, stands by all of its digital products by providing a money back guarantee with them all. So you can rest assured that if you do not like a product for anything whatsoever, you can return it and get a full refund. A hindrance to Pregnancy Without Pounds is that while it gives established advice, a worry would be that a pregnant woman could feel like she is able to take care of herself. A case in point would be that while Pregnancy Without Pounds shows you various exercises, you would still profit from a class that has certified teachers to help you. Similarly, you can follow the nutritional advice, but you should also listen to your own doctor who is not only an expert, but is looking at you specifically. Although the recommendations can be useful in this course, it should not displace someone who is trained and can personally assist you.

In conclusion, Pregnancy without Pounds has great info about remaining healthy over the course of a pregnancy. You will gain weight during your pregnancy, but the book gives tips for eating and exercising that will help you keep off the bonus pounds. As a result, the course is still practical for getting information and might advise you on some items that you did not already know about.

The History Of Tennis Balls

A tennis ball is very distinct and are used by millions of children and adults all over the world for playing tennis, of course, but many, many other less formal games too. They are not only the correct size for tennis, presumably anyway at 2.7 inches or 6.7 centimetres in diameter, but they also fit neatly into a hand or a dog’s mouth. Therefore people use them for playing catch, for various games of softball like rounders and for throwing for the dog to retrieve.

When I was a child, all tennis balls were white, but now you would be very hard pushed indeed to find a white one if, if indeed it is at all possible. These days, all tennis balls are day-glow colours like yellow, green and orange. Presumably this change was made for the sake of visibility on the TV screen.

The word ‘tennis’ comes from the French – ‘Tenez’ (pronounced ‘teney’), which meant ‘Take up Position’ or simply ‘Start’. The origins of tennis were almost certainly well over a thousand years ago, when it was played by monks. The racquet or racket was the flat of the hand and the ball was wooden.

No-one is really certain whether the next innovation was to wear leather mitts or to modify the ball to leather, but whichever it was, there was obviously a move to make the game less painful. When the ball changed from being wooden, it was manufactured of animal skin, most often leather, sewn up with sinews and stuffed with anything that came to hand, such as straw, wool and hair – animal and human.

The point is that these early wooden and leather balls did not bounce, so the game was very different back then. Eventually, the monks began using ‘racquets’, but they looked more like bats than modern day tennis racquets.

In Disraeli’s book, “Sybil” (1845), the plot reveals how Lord Eugene De Vere was to travel to Hampton Court to play tennis, so the game was a familiar sport then, but it took until the late Nineteen Century for the game that we know today to become formalized by a set of rules. In 1874, Major Walter Wingfield was granted the patent for the rules and equipment of ‘lawn tennis’ and not much has altered since.

The next year tennis courts were set up in the USA and then the game of tennis spread like wildfire. Wingfield set down the rules of the game and the sort of equipment to be used. The game has not changed much since then basically, but it has changed a great deal nevertheless. The shape of the court is different now and science has been applied to the apparatus to improve it.

The original ball in the late Nineteenth Century was manufactured of solid rubber and so would have been quite weighty, but at least it did bounce which instantly made the game more interesting and more lively. A bouncing ball made tennis into a more interesting game to play and a more interesting game to watch. The rubber ball allowed tennis to be a spectator sport that crowds would pay to watch.

Contemporary tennis balls have a rubberized skin, which is about eighty percent rubber, filled with air and covered by a layer of ‘hairy’ felt. The felt is important because it gives the surface of the ball more grip and can standardize the bounce too. It also gives the ball a more foreseeable flight path even in the presence of wind.

The last aspect of modern tennis balls is the air inside. This can either be pressurized or non-pressurized. Pressurized balls give a better bounce whilst new, but they lose pressure with time and so are less reliable, whereas non-pressurized balls actually improve slightly with use, which is considered a benefit.

Rapid Weight Loss Myths

There is nothing inherently wrong with wanting to be slimmer just to have a sexier body. Many people have moulded their bodies to make them look more healthy and more desirable. However, there is no way to attain this new appearance in a day of two. The problem is that most people do not want to wait, they want it now.

This can lead to these people making rather rash and, it has top be said, rather silly decisions. They are not willing to wait and they are not willing to work for what they want. This is why so many people turn to rapid weight loss diets. Some ‘guru’ brings out a new fad diet and a good proportion of the ‘I want it now’ crowd jump on the band wagon. Only to be disappointed again within the year or less.

Speed diets or rapid weight loss diets tend to put out great advertising copy that is very hard to resist. However, all diets, no matter which one you choose, Weight Watchers, Atkins or fad diet, depend on overweight people making lifestyle changes in order for them to work permanently.

There is a very apposite saying: if you always do what you always did, then you will always get what you always got. That says it all. You can lose weight with all but the stupidest of diets, but if you go back to your old ways when you hit your target weight, you MUST slowly, but gradually creep back to your old weight.

If you give your body more calories than it needs, it will store them for when it does need them. The problem is that that day never comes for too many people, because they never exercise themselves. This is especially true of fad diets like the ‘cabbage water’ diet. Yes, you will lose weight on it, but you would lose weight by fasting whatever you did. For a while, and then you might get sick. For a diet to work, it has to be adaptable and enjoyable enough for you to be able to stick with it for the rest of your life. Make no mistake, dieting is long-haul.

Many rapid weight loss programs actually only squeeze the water out of you. Just like a wet sponge. But a good dieter maintains his or her grip on that sponge, not letting it soak up water again. The problem with short term dieting, is that you let go of the sponge underwater.

This is why serial dieters first lose weight and are delighted; then finish dieting, go back to their old weight and become depressed. In that state of depression they are suckers for the advertisers of the next latest craze diet. In other words, they are being manipulated and literally squeezed dry, but of their cash too.

These silly rapid weight loss programs also include fat loss pills. They are not making you lose fat, well, maybe a tiny amount gets washed out with all the surplus water you are carrying. They are only diuretics under another name. How many pills would I sell if I called them diuretics? How many more would I sell if I called them miracle fat loss pills?

Type the word diuretic into a engine and find out more about them. They are all around you in mild healthy forms. A diuretic will essentially cause your body to lose more fluid than was in the diuretic. Tea is a diuretic, for instance.

This list of these dopey dieting aids to rapid weight loss goes on and on, but someone must be buying them and you can bet your bottom dollar that it is the sad, depressed dieter who let go of the sponge.

Slimming soap! Slimming soap is being advertised as being a rare Eastern remedy for corpulence. Well, let me tell you, I live in the East and I have never seen it here. Asians are slim because they do a lot of physical work and do not come under the pressure to eat junk food that Westerners do, although that situation is changing rapidly too.

Magnetic weight loss earrings, I ask you! Even being drunk without a present for your wife ten minutes before Christmas Day is not a good enough excuse to fall for this one, surely? The advertisers say that the secret of this set of earrings is that they are magnetic.

Well, if you believe this, why not get a pair of $1 children’s toy magnets or even a pair of fridge magnets and put one in each hip pocket? Two? Well, after all, you would not want to lose weight from only one side, would you? You would be lop sided.

Just remember, when you are looking for a rapid weight loss diet: there ain’t one ( that will work for life). If you are putting on weight, then your lifestyle is wrong and it is up to you alone to change it.

Owen Jones, the author of this piece, writes on many subjects, but is currently involved with how to lose weight online. If you have an interest in losing weight too, please go over to our website now at Why Can’t I Lose Weight?

Crock Pot Recipes

In the USA, most people call these electric cookers crock pots, whereas in the Great Britain they are normally called slow cookers. Crock pots by Rival, DeLonghi, Hamilton Beach, Cuisinart and Toastess are particularly good examples of advanced crock pots. Some of these crock pots are programmable, which allows the cook the flexibility that the slow cookers of twenty years did not.

The first crock pots had only an on/off switch and no temperature control. This meant that the meals you could cook with them were limited, if you used your crock pot for cooking food while you were out of the house or work for eight hours or more. Modern slow cookers like those crock pots mentioned above have changed all that. These days, modern crock pots are programmable.

These modern crock pots are very flexible and with the finest of them, you can set the temperature that the slow cooker should function at and the duration of time it should cook for just like a microwave oven. For example, you could program a modern slow cooker to cook at, say, 180c for an hour and then 100c for two hours

Most people do not appreciate the features that modern crock pots have. Regrettably, there are still a lot of individuals who still believe that slow cookers are only any good for cooking rice, boiling soup or preparing cheap cuts of meat like scrag end of mutton. This is just not true any more, although manual crock pots were capable of more than that as well. Modern variable slow cookers can be used to make bread, cheesecake, custards and even sponges.

In fact, it is a good suggestion to get away from the old fashioned concepts people have about slow cookers and attempt to see them as an oven, which does not need a pot to cook in. Try the recipe below and judge for yourself.

Fold in the walnuts. Turn into a greased and floured baking unit or a 2 1/2 quart mold and cover.

Place on a rack in your crock pot. Cover the crock pot, but prop the lid open with a toothpick or a twist of foil to let the excess steam escape. Cook on HIGH for 4 to 6 hours. Cool on a rack for 10 minutes. Serve Warm.

How To Lose Weight Quickly

Apart from physical appearance, weight affects a person in many ways. It could be the overall quality of life, self-confidence, depression, health risks, or physical incapabilities. There are a lot of advantages to weight loss, which is why lots of people are searching for a weight loss technique that will slim down those excess kilos and get a great, jaw-dropping body.

First of all, an overweight person ought to do is find a doctor to recommend the best weight loss regimen for you. This will only be done after a full physical examination, which leads to the determination of a proprietary weight loss technique. To lose excess weight fast and efficiently, four aspects of your life should be changed: what to eat, how to eat, behaviour and amount of exercise.

Here are a few quick recommendations that can affect an over-weight individual’s whole life:

1: Quick weight loss is achieved by a multi-faceted technique that is made up of mindset, exercise, and, in some cases, dietary supplements. Commence by following a food plan that can be easily adopted into your current way of life. Start an exercise plan that includes at least fifteen minutes a day brisk walking, running, swimming and/or dancing.

2: Set yourself achievable goals. The ability to focus and have a proper mental outlook enables a person on a diet to rapidly lose those extra kilos. You have to develop discipline and a proper mind set, a dieter will never become discouraged and give up.

3: Listen to your body. everyone’s metabolism reacts differently to different fast weight loss plans. Try swapping one program for another to gauge the body’s reaction. An exercise program ought to be suited to your body, as some can not exercise as rigorously as others. If walking is all that you can do, then walk, since this is one of the best exercises. Remember that muscles burn calories so it’s definitely a good idea to put on a little more muscle – it looks sexy too.

4: Eat more fibre since it makes you feel fuller sooner and takes longer to digest, making it longer before you will be hungry again. For instance, a couple of slices of whole grain bread will remain in the gut longer and put off hunger longer than white bread, which turns in to sugar more quickly. giving you a quick, sugar spike, which soon passes, leaving you hungry again.

5: Stay away from fried food especially deep-fried, since it contains a large amount of fat. However, although fish and chicken are considered to be far leaner than beef, these white meats can retain even more fat than beef if it is fried. It is recommended that those on a strict diet opt for grilled food, as it does not have much fat after the food has been cooked.

6: Take in lots of fluid. Drinking at least six to eight glasses of water a day keeps the body ‘flushing’ and since weight loss depends on how the body gets rid of bodily waste, the body has to stay hydrated.

So, all in all, discipline and consistency is the way to rapid weight loss. Light dieting, exercise and the correct nutritional supplements taken regularly everyday will result in a faster weight loss than having a massive, but short-lived campaign followed by a return to the bad old habits, because this only results in adding more weight than before the diet was started.
